Hanini, commonly known as the “winter dish,” is one of the most popular traditional seasonal dishes in Buraydah. It continues to be widely enjoyed during winter due to its high nutritional value and the warmth and energy it provides through its rich ingredients.
Hanini is prepared using whole wheat flatbread, locally known as Qursan, which is crumbled and mixed with date paste in nearly equal proportions. Hot melted butter is then poured over the top. It is traditionally served hot and commonly eaten with fresh lemon or dried black lemon. Laban or Arabic coffee is often served alongside it.
